The new music series from David Ward + Golden Future unites the best in soul for a night of back to back floor fillers. With a deep reverence for music, community and vibe, Propeller is an electric night in an intimate venue that hosts some of the most exciting musicians across North America. Born in the heart of Vancouver’s Gastown, Propeller lives at Guilt & Company, the underground nexus of the city’s soul scene. With Propeller in its second season, Ward + Golden Future have hosted and played with those at the vanguard of the new wave in jazz—Patrice Quinn (Kamasi Washington); legends of the world music and soul scene—JC Maillard (MD for Lisa Fischer); and the fiercely funky proprietors of the new generation—Swatkins (Allen Stone).
Propeller Season 1 Artists (L to R): Dawn Pemberton; Terrance Richmond; Karina Morin; Swatkins (Allen Stone); Warren Dean Flandez; Patrice Quinn (Kamasi Washington); JC Maillard (MD for Lisa Fischer); and surprise guests Josh Hoying and Matt Sallee (Pentatonix).
Western Canadian Music Award-winning soul singer-songwriter Krystle Dos Santos has been honing her craft for nearly a decade. Bringing her eclectic style and magnetic charm to every performance she delivers we are pleased to welcome Krystle to the Propeller stage.
Katherine Penfold delivers her sultry, smooth, and sweet sound with more than a touch of rustic badassery. Winner of the GROOVEFM singer/songwriter competition, Penfold has performed alongside the likes of Hugh Laurie, Jeff Lorber, Brad Turner, and Jodi Proznick. We are excited to welcome her to our second show of the season.
Few drummers play at the stakes that Daru Jones has come to know. The Michigan born and bred phenomenon has steadily risen through the ranks of church gospel, neo-soul, hip-hop and rock drumming, finally arriving at the mighty throne from which he now holds court: the leadership role in Jack White‘s arena-packing live band. Not to be missed!
